Black History Month

Black communities have contributed so much to our country to make it the diverse and prosperous nation it is today. Their history is barely spoken about, so we must take it upon ourselves to educate ourselves and push for change.

As part of Talk Future Canada's promise to create a diverse environment and push for change, we're celebrating Black History Month and giving a platform to Black creators and activists. Our posts for the month will discuss issues Black communities face and all resources from our posts will be linked here!

Blog Initiative

As part of Talk Future Canada’s promise to create a diverse environment where people’s voices are heard, we’re opening blog submissions for any written pieces, artwork, and videos to showcase the talent in our community! We’d love to give an opportunity to the Black community to spotlight all the hobbies, interests, and talents.

Talk Future Canada is looking for Black artists, singers, dancers, writers, and other creators.

It is up to us to educate ourselves and push for change.

Mental Health in Black Communities

In many marginalized or racialized communities, mental health is seen as a taboo subject. Many people suffer in silence for that reason. Accessing mental health resources for marginalized communities before the pandemic was already hard, and now it has gotten worse.

We must make these resources more accessible for people who need help. Never be afraid to reach out if you need help and do not downplay your feelings. Just talking to someone or doing something you enjoy can help you feel better.

Black-Owned Businesses

All throughout the pandemic, we’ve been told to support small businesses, but what about the small businesses owned by BIPOC that don’t get much attention?

We're focusing on the importance of supporting Black owned businesses and offers a few suggestions for people in Ontario/ the GTA.
